Spring Awakening & Potluck: April 26

Updated: 10 minutes ago

Spring is in the air. New shoots are pushing up through the earth.

Let’s get together to get our grounds back in shape for the season while we enjoy another plant‑forward spring potluck.

A few hours of work pruning, clearing, and planting will make a big difference in making our gardens beds and grounds look their best and set all our plants up to thrive.

We’ll gather on Sunday, April 26 from 12:30–4pm for the potluck and Spring Awakening. We’ll break bread first and then break ground. You’re welcome to roll up your sleeves at your own pace after you’ve partaken of lunch.

Please bring something to share for the potluck if you can, or just come and enjoy. Bring your own beverage. If possible, please sign up to indicate what you plan to bring. If you want to help with potluck setup, cleanup, and other logistics, please sign up here.

You don’t need gardening experience to help. There’s always something to do. We have tools on hand, though of course you’re welcome to bring your own.

Please dress comfortably for the weather, stay hydrated, and remember your sunscreen and/or a hat!

Volunteer Mornings

Are you dedicated to keeping out gardens and grounds beautiful and verdant all season long? Can’t get enough fresh air in good company?

This year, the Grounds Committee is cultivating a new initiative just for you!

Starting on May 13th, we will host garden volunteer mornings twice a month. On mornings of the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month, from 9 to 11 am, we’ll all gather to attend to our grounds, continuing maintenance and starting some new projects too.

We have a few projects already lined up: installing an irrigation system in the native plant garden, finishing a paver path for the sanctuary’s emergency egress, and adding hostas around the sunken gardens.

If you’re dividing hostas this spring, we’d be glad to have them.

See you on the 26th and hopefully beyond!
