Commitment

Social Justice & Public Service

Genesis welcomes opportunities to support our congregations as they collaboratively work for justice. Our two congregations along with members of the wider community operate the Back Door Food Pantry. They work together quarterly to identify volunteers to provide meals and basic supplies to families experiencing homelessness who are temporarily living at Alpha House. Every year over Thanksgiving, they jointly host the Rotating Shelter, which provides a week-long overnight shelter for men experiencing homelessness.

Feeding those in Need

Back Door Food Pantry

Located on our grounds, the Back Door Food Pantry is committed to helping people in need by supplying food to all those who come to the door.

Originally providing basic calories by distributing canned and packaged goods, the pantry now provides an array of nutritious food items and also distributes personal hygiene items and paper products.

Minimizing our Footprint

Sustainability

Genesis promotes stewardship of the environment through our commitment to reduce the carbon footprint of our shared building.

We use only renewably generated electricity in our building. We installed a large array of solar panels on a model that others have since adopted.

We are implementing a thorough decarbonization plan which includes switching from gas heat to geothermal heating and cooling.
