Our New Genesis Logo

Updated: Dec 12, 2023

At the Erev Thanksgiving service on November 19, 2023, Genesis unveiled its new logo! The logo was designed by Debora Gutman, a professional graphic artist living in Argentina.

The logo features a tree of life motif. This tree figures in the Garden of Eden story as one of two named trees (Adam and Eve ate from the other, the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil). The author of Proverbs also compares wisdom to this tree of life. (Proverbs 3:13,18)

As we celebrate our half century of partnership, we adopt this logo as a symbol of our faith, efforts, wisdom, and optimism for the future.

The tree of life is also a reference to the art piece in our building, whose golden leaves represent past and present supporters of our Genesis project. Please contact the Genesis

Coordinator for more information on how to make a donation to Genesis and personalize an engraving on one leaf.

The logo’s design was supervised by the Design Committee and the 50th Anniversary Committee. The purple is a call-back to the shading of the original logo. The previous logo was designed before Genesis’ 25th anniversary celebrations.

The teal-green is a complementary color which also reflects the ecological work undertaken by both congregations and by Genesis within the Green Team. Genesis has on-going plans to decarbonize our facility and hosted its first Climate Teach In earlier this year.  A second Climate Teach in is scheduled for March 10, 2024.

The ETERNAL God planted a garden in Eden, in the east, and placed there the Human who had been fashioned. And from the ground the ETERNAL God caused to grow every tree that was pleasing to the sight and good for food, with the tree of life in the middle of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and bad. Genesis 2:8-9
