St Clare's Episcopal Church, Temple Beth Emeth and Blue Ocean Faith work every May to provide service to our community.
Welcome to our new blog for the Genesis of Ann Arbor.
St. Clare's Episcopal Church, Temple Beth Emeth and Blue Ocean Faith congregations work together every May, side by side, providing service to our community. A Genesis group of members facilitate with local nonprofit organizations in our region to see what social work activities that Genesis can assist with. We provide a day of service at several sites; among which are Alpha House, Ann Arbor Center for Independent Living, City of Ann Arbor's Parks and Recreation, Back Door Food Pantry (Genesis Faith and Food with Food Gatherers), Canterbury House, Child Care for participants, Corner Health Store (Ypsilanti), JFS, Needlework for Peace, Peace Neighborhood Center, Washtenaw Congregational Sanctuary and Veterans Administration.
“Our group spent 3 hours cleaning up the flower beds, brush hedges and raking up leaves and trash in the parking lot at the Ann Arbor Peace Neighborhood on May 5, 2019.”
Genesis of Ann Arbor allows groups of multiple faiths to work side by side to do good in our community, be proactive on social justice issues such as gun control and children being separated from their parents at the border, as well as versatile environmental issues. Together, our organization has become a forming member of the Ann Arbor 2030 District. Our congregational facility is now able to fund and install solar panel energy. Our very own Genesis of Ann Arbor Board of Director President, Murray Rosenthal is on the board. For more information about Ann Arbor 2030 District, see http://www.2030districts.org/annarbor
Genesis of Ann Arbor covenant's vision statement states, "by daily embracing mutual trust and respect, we partner with God and one another to heal a broken world." Our Mission is to exemplify interfaith understanding, cooperation, and friendship, and, through its Board, steward its shared space in ways that strengthen St. Clare’s Episcopal Church and Temple Beth Emeth and the broader community."
Our facilities include a sanctuary with possibly the best acoustics in Ann Arbor for holding chamber music recitals, core meeting rooms, a banquet (Social Hall) with dance floor, and a full commercial kitchen. These Facilities are available to rent for weddings, receptions, bar/bat-mitzvahs, celebrations, concerts, seminars, lectures, meetings, classes, food preparation, and many other public or private events.
