Big changes are in store for Genesis this coming fiscal year, which begins July 1. Find out what’s happening while getting together with old and new friends in our community.
Temple Beth Emeth and St. Clare’s Church congregants are invited to gather for the first annual Genesis Picnic, followed by the 2026 Genesis Annual Meeting.
The First Annual Genesis Picnic
You won’t want to miss the debut of what’s sure to become a new tradition!
Organized by the newly re-established Genesis Events Committee, the Genesis Picnic is a chance for members of both congregations to spend some casual time together before the annual meeting. Committee co-chair George Brieloff assures us:
We have no agenda other than bringing our congregations together to talk, visit, laugh.
The picnic will take place from 4:30 to 6:00 PM.
Grilled hot dogs—both beef and vegetarian—will be provided. Please bring your own beverages and a dish to share.
Seating will be available both indoors and outdoors, weather permitting.
Please RSVP now, so the organizers know how much food to prepare.
The Genesis Annual Meeting
The Genesis Annual Meeting will begin at 6:00 pm, immediately after the picnic. It is open to all members of Temple Beth Emeth and St. Clare’s. The meeting will also be broadcast on Zoom for those who prefer to attend remotely. (Check back here for a link.)
At the meeting, we’ll update our congregations about what Genesis has been doing to keep our building functioning and looking at its best and our congregations connected. It’s a chance to peek under the hood and learn what our committees do to keep Genesis running, from maintaining our building and grounds, to managing our staff, meeting our sustainability goals, and riding the bleeding edge of technology. Who knows, you may even be inspired to join one. You don’t need to be on the board to help out.

We will also formalize appointments to the Genesis Board for the coming year. The board is expected to expand this year, adding one additional member from each congregation to help carry the growing work of the organization.
Earlier in the Day: The Tri-board Meeting
Before the picnic and annual meeting, the leadership of all three partner organizations will gather for the Tri-board meeting.
This working session is for members of the Genesis Board, the Temple Beth Emeth Board, and the St. Clare’s Vestry. The main topic will be how to put into practice the long-term reserve plan we’ve been developing over the past two years.
That plan is designed to help Genesis prepare for major capital needs—such as rooftop heating units, elevator modernization, and other large building systems—through realistic anticipation and sufficient regular annual contributions rather than emergency special requests whenever something fails.
The decisions made at this meeting will shape how Genesis and the two congregations care for our shared building in the years ahead.
Picnic attendees will be among the first to learn the details of what we decide!
