Genesis Heads to the Ballpark on June 29

The Genesis Events Committee is thrilled to invite you to our first major public event since our relaunch: a group outing to a Toledo Mud Hens baseball game at 4:00pm on Sunday, June 29, 2025!

Whether you’re a die-hard baseball fan or just love celebrating summer evenings in good company, this event promises fun for everyone of all ages.

We hope this game will be the first of many opportunities to gather, celebrate, and connect as a community. Your participation will help set the tone for the future—so come root, root, root for the home team and join us for a day of fun, fellowship, and fresh air!

⚾ Why the Toledo Mud Hens?

You may be wondering—why a baseball game in Toledo? And who exactly are the Mud Hens?

The Toledo Mud Hens are the Triple-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, meaning they’re just one step below the Major Leagues. Many of the Tigers’ current and future stars pass through Toledo on their way to Detroit. If you’ve ever cheered on the Tigers at Comerica Park, there’s a fair chance those players honed their skills wearing a Mud Hens jersey first.

Even if you’re not a dedicated baseball fan, minor league games offer a unique and accessible experience because they tend to feel more up close and personal. It's a chance to see or maybe even meet rising stars before they hit the big leagues. And we've secured great seats close to the action at the beautifully maintained Fifth Third Field, consistently ranked among the top minor league ballparks in the country.

🏟 Special Events at the June 29 Game

The Mud Hens play in a festive atmosphere with lots of special promotional events and activities perfect for families, friends, or anyone looking to enjoy a summer afternoon outdoors.

Kids can enjoy an inflatable theme park included in the cost of admission and they'll have a chance to get on the feild and run the bases. June 29 happens to be Peanuts Night, so kids (and grown-ups!) will have a chance to meet Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and other favorite characters.

June 29 also happens to be Faith & Family Night, which will involve a Q&A session with the team's chaplain and feature players sharing their experiences with faith as professional athletes. Perfect timing for Genesis!

Check the the above links for further details about these pre-game events, as game day approaches. (First pitch is at 4:00 pm.)

🌟 Be Part of Something New

This Mud Hens game marks the (re-)launch of the Genesis Events Committee, which has been dormant since Covid. The committee is now led by two TBE and two STC congregants: George & Sally Brieloff (TBE) and Sarah Barbrow and Geoffrey Ringlee (STC).

The committee aims to hold two or three events a year for the two congregations to come together for fun, enjoyment, and to get to know each other.

Heads up for these upcoming events:

  • Thanksgiving Potluck: 11/23/2025. We hope to expand our customary Thanksgiving Service beginning next November. Let's take the opportunity to break bread and celebrate this American holiday together.

  • Genesis Summer Picnic: June 2026. We hope to make an annual Genesis Picnic a new summer tradition. We plan to sponsor a picnic which will include fun games and activities for kids and families, and hamburgers and hot dogs on the BBQ.

Stay tuned for more info on these great events and more to come.

Let’s play ball!
