Genesis Cheers the Mud Hens to Victory

Last Sunday, June 29, a few dozen of our most intrepid TBE and STC congregants braved construction traffic and the heat wave to together witness the Toledo Mud Hens triumph 5-3 over the Charlotte Knights.
The Genesis Events Committee quickly sold out an initial block of 40 tickets right up close directly behind first base, and still succeeded in meeting excess demand. While a few of the holders of the 57 tickets sold stayed cool at home, attendance was still good and everyone who came out was 'strikingly' enthusiastic.
As committee member George Brieloff remarked, “it was a little warm out but a beautiful day to be at a ballgame.”

The Mud Hens are Minor League Baseball's Triple-A affiliate of our Detroit Tigers, while the Knights are the affiliate of the Chicago White Sox.
It was a thrilling game, with the Knights taking an early lead and holding it at 2-1 until the Mud Hens broke through in the bottom of the sixth, bringing home 3 runs. Each team added another run in the eighth, for a final score of 5-3.
“Everyone I spoke to said they loved the idea of our congregations coming together and they look forward to further programming,” Brieloff said.
George and Sally Brieloff, Sarah Barbow, and Geoffrey Ringlee teamed up to reconstitute the Genesis Events Committee earlier this year, after several years of quiescence. The committee aims to sponsor a few annual events to celebrate and strengthen our unique and lasting relationship.
Next up: a Thanksgiving Potluck in the Social Hall just prior to our annual Thanksgiving Service and an annual June picnic on Genesis grounds starting next summer. Stay tuned for details.
The events are wonderful opportunities for people from TBE and St. Clare's to get together, get to know each other better, and build deeper bonds.
