The Genesis 50th Anniversary Celebration Courtyard is coming very soon!
Help build the courtyard and your legacy by memorializing your loved ones with an engraved brick!
Over the years, congregants of Temple Beth Emeth and St. Claire’s church have expressed a wish to share a memorial space on our common grounds. In recognition of this desire, and in celebration of 50 years of meaningful partnership between our congregations, the Genesis 50th Anniversary Committee explored ways to make this a reality by creating a lasting memorial.
Last fall, their initiative to establish a Genesis Celebration Courtyard in the space between the St. Francis chapel and the Social Hall won the enthusiastic support of the Genesis Board, the TBE Board, and the Vestry. The existing pavers will be replaced with engraved bricks, each sponsored by one of our congregant families.
This is a wonderful way to honor a loved one while also expressing your commitment to the Genesis vision of embracing mutual trust and respect, partnering with God and one another to heal a broken world.
The TBE Board and the Vestry have together pledged over 25% of the cost of the $10k+ project, awarded to Alternative Paving Systems.
The sale of just 40 memorial bricks will cover the rest of the costs of establishing the courtyard. Funds raised by additional memorial brick sales, in excess of installation costs, will support Genesis in its ongoing efforts to maintain our space as one of peace and comfort for us all.
Genesis announced this Celebration Courtyard project at last fall’s Erev Thanksgiving service. Groundbreaking is set to begin this spring, which is just around the corner as the snow begins to melt. We anticipate the project will be completed, with the initial bricks in place, in time to mark the 50th anniversary of the raising of the TBE Star of David next to the St. Clare’s Cross on June 8, 1975, and thus also the conclusion of our 50th Anniversary celebrations.

We are counting on you to place your legacy. You can reserve your brick for $300. Of that cost, $270 represents a tax-deductible contribution to Genesis, while the balance is the cost of the inscription, which can be up to 3 lines of 14 characters each.
Congregants of either TBE or St. Claire’s may order online with a credit or debit card payment. If you prefer, you may deliver a check, made out to your congregation, to your congregational administrator, along with this completed form:
Brick orders with inscriptions must be received no later than April 27, 20025 for inclusion in the initial courtyard installation. Additional engraved bricks will be available for some years to come and will be periodically installed. The courtyard will accommodate over 3,000 bricks in total.
