What makes Genesis unique...

Genesis of Ann Arbor is the home of Saint Clare's of Assisi Episcopal Church and Temple Beth Emeth, a Reform Jewish congregation.

Genesis started as an idea with no precedent because two groups of people saw they could practice their faiths in a shared space. It became a dream that is now a reality and “not so small a miracle.”

Members of the St. Clare's of Assisi Episcopal Church and Temple Beth Emeth congregations publicly signed a joint declaration of support for the Nationwide Sanctuary Movement on June 8, 2018. Click on the image below to learn more.

*Interfaith Learning*

The two congregations share interfaith worship, with the annual Erev Thanksgiving service and the annual “pulpit switch.” We sponsor interfaith learning opportunities on topics such as forgiveness, social justice film nights, small group dinners, and joint choir concerts for both children and adults. And we come together regularly to care for our building and grounds through volunteer labor.

*Social Justice*

Members of the two congregations work together on a number of service activities: An annual Mitzvah in the community; the Back Door Food Pantry; assist with the Alpha House and the Rotating Homeless Shelter.
